I always used to associate eyeshadow with bright blues and purples that we all used to receive as 'play make-up' as kids. Resulting in a striking resemblance to Pat Butcher. But recently I have wanted to experiment with browns and blacks to create daytime and smokey eye looks.
I decided on this Make Up Academy 'Undressed' eyeshadow palette with 12 shades ranging from nudes to smokey metallics. Priced at £4 from Superdrug
First Impressions
At such a low price I wasn't to expect any fancy packaging, but it is quite simple and sleek. At a handy side the palette is small enough to fit into your make-up bag but big enough to hold all twelve shades. Some of the shadows are matte and others more of a metallic which I found quite frustrating as when you wanted a matte look, there is no matte dark brown.
The palette also comes with a double ended foam brush which I don't really like the idea of using but in the store the palette was sealed shut so I ended up buying an eyeshadow brush anyway!
Application
I must say, I was very disappointed with the level of pigmentation with me really having to load it on to get any kind of result! There was also a lot of fall out when I tried to pick up the product on my brush, with lots of powder crumbling up on the surface of the shadow.
As you can see form the photo below, the shadows themselves also really bring out the creases in your skin, making me look like I had really wrinkly eyelids! Which sucked!
Having olive skin, i struggled to match shades that were dark enough to show up on my skin tone. The second and third tones on my swatch below barely showed up at all without several layers.
Overall
I would not recommend this product, especially to those of us with darker skin tones.
There is a lot of fallout and the shadows aren't very pigmented.
Quite disappointing In future I would go for maybe a dual or tri-coloured eyeshadow palette rather than so many shades!
