Barry M Hi Shine Gel Effect Nail Polish | Review

I must admit when I first saw this product I knew I wanted it! I think it was the allure of the nail varnish being thicker and shinier than the normal ones.

I have always liked Barry M nail products and tend to trust them more so than other branded nail colours, with my collection consisting of only Barry M and a couple of christmas present set ones!

At a reasonably priced £3.99 I got this as a christmas stocking filler which I was more than pleased with!

I first of all tried out my red one, aptly named; "red" and I wasn't disappointed! The nail varnish went on thickly and smoothly and gave great shine and finish. However, It wasn't as thick as I expected! To be fair, I did have high expectations for this product, dreamily expecting a thick gel like finish, similar to the gel fills that 'the lucky ones' get at the nail bars (note jealousy at lack of money here!) But unfortunately it wasn't!

I found the nail varnish was beautiful when first applied for the first couple of days but after that the chipping was HORRENDOUS! I think this may be down to the fact that I use my hands a lot (cheeky) when it comes to washing up in the hot water etc.

I also tried the "Dark Green" shade which I was not keen on at all! I think on a lighter toned skin this could be a great edgy winter look nail colour. But on my olive skin I feel it just looks too dark!

Overall

I do like this product and I'm ashamed to say I would buy it again! I think it does deliver a slightly shinier tone than the regular Barry M products, but at the rate they bring out new nail effects, I reckon I will be suckered in to the newer saves and effects!
