This iconic mascara has been around for god knows how long, but I know that both my mum and my grandmother use and love it!
I bought the 'blackest black' version of the mascara. More out of impulse than anything else! I always want the 'little bit extra' whether it be buying a mascara in waterproof or the 'even blacker' shade.
Although it is a classic, I'm still not convinced it delivers when it compares to newer mascaras...
I L-O-V-E this packaging! As I mentioned in my Maybelline The Colossal Volum' Express post, I remember it from my mum using it when I was younger. Although the colours of the packaging clash, it just creates such a dramatic and iconic look. Priced at just £4.99 at both Boots and Superdrug it's very affordable and one of the two the lowest priced mascaras in my *seven days of mascara* series.

* Application *
The brush is a stumpy little thing and does look very much like a 'traditional' mascara brush. Although in this case, I think sticking with tradition works! If it ain't broke, don't fix it! The fact that the brush is so little, it is good for reaching those little inside lashes as well as the bottom ones. On the other hand, the bristles on the brush are quite sparse, meaning that it takes a few layers to coat individual lashes. After application I do find this mascara to be quite flakey as the day goes on, with the product drying and flaking off.
This mascara would be fabulous for you if you have lighter lashes as, as the name suggests, the mascara itself is a very intense black. But luckily, having very dark hair myself, this isn't a problem I encounter. Overall I think this is great for the price you pay as well as being a good little item for perhaps a travel makeup bag as it is very buildable, making it suitable for the day as well as more daring evening looks.
