Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation | Review

When I saw the beautiful Zoella reviewing this item, I knew that it would be on my watch list to buy when it was offer as she had nothing but praise for it!
I thought it was a bargain at just £5.99 at Superdrug (on offer, usually £8.99)

I found this product EXTREMELY difficult to buy as whenever I visited my local superdrug I found there were never any testers! As a girl with a darker than "normal" skin tone, I really struggle with 'drug store' make up and having to test it myself...especially when there are no testers. But after a few trips I finally colour matched myself with the shade 303 True Nude.

First Impressions
First of all I love the packaging! The lid is a bright orange which is really fun and contemporary  Not only that but the bottle itself is glass which gives te product a much more expensive feel. It also has a pump which gives for great ease to apply the right amount of product rather than the usual toothpaste squeezing experience where you squirt out far too much product and end up piling it onto your face as not to waste it! Also, it smells awesome!

Application
I tend to use my fingers to apply foundation, just for the ease of not having to clean brushes! (very lazy I know!) With this foundation I felt that it worked well with your fingers as it it very buildable so that you can apply more product where needed.
After a closer look the foundation itself has a very slight sparkle to it which initally worried me as I had no intention of looking like a Cullen. But once the product was worked onto the skin the sparkle really did brighten my skin and indeed did make me look less tired. I found that I was layering more on areas I would usually highlight as the tone is ever-so-slightly too light.

Overall
I did really like this product, I think it does give a medium coverage which is buildable for blemish prone areas.
It has a beautiful consistency and is great for tired looking skin.
I reckon this could also be used as a simple everyday foundation for a natural, quick make up look.

  1. I've had this foundation for a while now, I'm kind of undecided on whether it works for me or not, as it seems to slide off my face by about midday. I need to try it with a good primer underneath I think!

  2. I know what you mean! However, I have never used a primer myself. I don't know whether they really work or not. I might give it a try. Watch this space!
