I was dubious about this mascara at first due to it's very thin, comb-like applicator but this has by far become one of my all time favourite mascara!

This is actually one of the older mascaras in my *seven days of mascara* collection but it is still one of my absolute favourites!

I actually received this Soap and Glory mascara at my freshers fair at University! It came in a gift bag along with Elle magazine and a benefit lip tint, all just for £1! So I really wasn't expecting much from it...

Collection 2000 recently changed their branding to just 'Collection' which I think is a great move as I think it makes it sound much more elegant and edgy. I have never fully trusted Collections make up as a budget brand. But this product is surprisingly one of my favourite mascaras of all!

Maybelline's Great Lash Blackest Black Mascara...what a classic!

This iconic mascara has been around for god knows how long, but I know that both my mum and my grandmother use and love it!

I bought the 'blackest black' version of the mascara. More out of impulse than anything else! I always want the 'little bit extra' whether it be buying a mascara in waterproof or the 'even blacker' shade.

Although it is a classic, I'm still not convinced it delivers when it compares to newer mascaras...

I've always loved and trusted Maybelline mascara. I think it goes back to seeing my mum use the Maybelline Great Lash mascara with the iconic green and pink packaging and mum always knows best right? I got this mascara mainly because of hype around it and the way Maybelline suggestively told me that it's THE BIGGEST BRUSH EVER! and BIGGER IS BETTER!

Lash 360º *Seven days of mascara!*

I got this product in a small christmas set and I must admit, when I saw that it was No7, I was quite excited! No7 has always been quite a luxurious brand to me as it is a bit mroe expensive than the other high street make-p. Not only that but it always has the fanciest stand in Boots!For those who don't know, No7 is exclusive to Boots and is the older, wiser and more glamourous sister to the teenage branded '17 Cosmetics'. Interestingly enough, No7 was launched 78 years ago and started branding with the ever-so-charming slogan

"A modern way to loveliness"

Anyway! When I recieved this mascara as a gift, after being very excited to try it out and simply assuming my eyelashes would flutter just as beautifully as Keeley Hawes do. But no. This mascara was not as expected...

Seven days of mascara!

I love mascara. There I said it! I have quite short lashes so I really just don't feel right without mascara. I know this is the same for my natural blonde friends out there who need to darken up their lashes. 

Over the next few days I will be reviewing 7 of my mascaras, all from the high street/drugstore! 

Lazy Sunday | Day 5 of Lent!

So, today there really hasn't been much for me to talk about because all in all, I did very little today. Work, work, work!

As well as this, I can't find my camera charger anywhere, which is really proving a problem especially with updating this little blog!

But! All is not lost blogarinos! As I have a big post coming up soon which will blow your bloody socks off (I hope) and has lots of pictures that I took before my charger went walkabout.

Hummus! | Day 4 of Lent!

Decided to have coffee instead of my usual cuppa this morning in order to save myself from the horrible taste, which I suppose defeats the point! Oh well!

Today was a pretty lazy Saturday, but a fun one none the less!

We decided to have a go at making our own hummus. I have always thought hummus was far too complicated to make at home, with strange ingredients which would be expensive, but I was wrong!

All you need to make this really simple recipe is;

1 tin of chickpeas

Juice of half a lemon

2 cloves of garlic

1 teaspoon of ground cumin

A little pinch of salt

2 tablespoons of tahini (optional)

(I really didn't know what tahini was but apparently it is a 'sesame seed paste', which kind of tastes like peanut butter!)

So, to bring it all together, quite simply, just wizz it all together in a food processor! Then sprinkle/drizzle on top;

2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

1 teaspoon of paprica

Bob's your Uncle! Delicious!

Right, day three of lent and I gave up having sugar in my tea and I think its going okay...

Hopefully I'll get used to it!

No, but my mum wanted to give me a strong name, aka a unisex name! My full name is Alexandra but my family called me Alex.

Happy Valentines Day! | Day 2 of Lent!

Happy Valentines day!

I've always been a firm believer that Valentines day is all about spending time with those you love whether it be your boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, children or best friends! Valentines day is all about celebrating love and the people you love in your life. 

This valentines day...I had university lectures. Dull! But after that, I spent the rest of the day with my boyfriend. (cue: aww!) We decided that for Valentines day we weren't going to do anything extra special but a couple of days before the 'big day' we realised we might as well at least go out and treat ourselves a little bit! So we decided to try to go for a meal at Wagamamas, which is an awesome Japanese restaurant which doesn't take bookings so we were much more likely to get in there than anywhere else! And it was DE-LICIOUS!

A new challenge! | Lent!

Hey! 

So, today is the first day of Lent! Lent is a period of 40 days and 40 where you challange yourself to give up (or more recently, take up) something.

So for lent this year I decided to give up taking sugar in my tea and take up doing one yoga sun salutation every day...eek!

But as another little challenge I am going to try my hardest to blog at least once every day for the whole of lent! But you will have to bare with me as I have a lot of deadlines coming up!
Whether it's just a little OOTD or an update of what I'm up to, I promise to try my hardest not to let this little blog down!

Lets get lippy with Lush!

Recently I was given the Lush Mint Julips lip scrub and I must say, this product is delicious! Yes really! Delicious! It works by using sugar within its soothing lip balm to help scrub away and exfoliate your lips. Made with peppermint, vanilla and tagetes oil it not only exfoliate, but the oil also nourishes your lips making sure they don't dry out. And the best part? You get to lick it off after! Yum!

I suffer a lot with dry skin and especially dry lips during the colder winter months, so this product was a welcome addition to my skin regime.
